CA FEB - Out on the Banks
Our latest adventure with Challenge Accepted kicked off with an incredible time on the upper Goulburn River near Trawool. The weather was mild, perfect for the energetic activities we had planned. From swimming and hiking to fishing and floating downstream, the teenage boys had a blast.
Camping by the river in a secluded area was a luxury. Our large bell tents dominated a chunk of the campground, allowing us to enjoy our own little corner. The boys made the most of it, engaging in games and outdoor fun along the banks of the Goulburn River. One of the highlights was the delicious chicken souvas cooked on our newest addition, Wendy the Weber. The evening ended with marshmallows around the campfire, and the boys were soon ready for bed.
The next day started with the aroma of sizzling bacon wafting through the campground. After a hearty breakfast and some fishing, we decided to embark on a hike. The Falls Creek trail, nestled in the Tallarook State Forest, offered a picturesque setting. Instead of following the trail, the boys opted for an adventurous route, navigating the creek bed and bringing the activity of creeking to life. The challenging 300-meter-plus elevation didn't deter the boys, and with encouragement, we made our way through boulders, crevices, and puddles of mud. Although we didn't reach the top, the experience was exhilarating.
Lunchtime brought expertly cooked burgers by Tim, and they were a hit with everyone. After fueling up, we wasted no time and hit the river with inflatable doughnuts and life jackets in tow. The 5km stretch from horseshoe lagoon to the Goulburn Valley Highway bridge was a thrilling ride through shallow waters and river pebbles.
It was an unforgettable trip filled with adventure, good food, and great company. Until the next Challenge Accepted excursion, cheers to more unforgettable experiences!
